Writing

Good Morning Fellow Nano-ers!

I feel great! How about you? By all accounts I should be down in the dumps.

At 8,000 words, my story is all over the place and as cohesive as a jigsaw puzzle, but you know what? Just doing this exercise is a sign of growth for me.

I may have joked around about being crazy, but last year this time, I was so unsure of my writing ability, my stick-to-it-ness and my ability to maintain clarity of thought for thirty days straight due to my battle with bi-polar disorder. That, being on the cusp of homelessness and living in the land of denial with regards to the changing roles I saw begin to emerge between my mother and myself.

That in itself is a book* that I will get to, but I’ve others crawling around in my head that are vying for attention right now.

Well that’s my longwinded soliloquy for today.

Be encouraged, one and all!

Peace,
Dee

*If you’d like to read an essay that includes some highlights of that situation, you can find it here:

Yep, you might actually grow to dislike seeing that word, I’ll be writing about it for another twenty-five days. Let’s see, so far I’ve managed to find a writing community that caters to Nanoers — nano.darkescapes.net. You receive FREE access to a blog and book creating software on the net.

Now you know a sistah has trust issues, so I nicely asked the head honcho “mother” why?

ME: This is soooo cool and I can’t keep a secret to save my life! Am I allowed to mention this on my outside blog for other NaNoWriMo bloggers? I know quite a few.

Please advise.

Peace,
Dee

MOTHER: Definitely, you can mention it anywhere.

ME: btw…what gave you the idea for this? And does it cost a lot to maintain?

MOTHER: I’ve done nano a few times and I know that not everyone can have a blog or webspace of their own so it’s a nice way of giving back to the net community for me. My husband and I both do web development so I have server space to use ;)

So there you have it folks. If any of you reading this are blogging your way to NaNo heaven? Give this is a try, the learning curve is not steep at all and mother is a hostess who deserves the mostest. Mostest thanks, mostest kudos and mosetest mention.

Peace,
Dee.

What? Oh you mean why am I not typing the great novel? ‘Cause y’all didn’t sign up to comment and keep me on the straight and narrow…that’s why…lol.

Oh, you mean stop stalling and give you a word count? *sigh* Alright, I’m at ****
hehehehe.

Hello folks,

It’s only Day No. 4 and I’m frazzled already. It doesn’t help that it’s open enrollment week at work.

In addition, I am my own worst enemy. I keep wanting to scratch everything I’ve typed to date and start all over with a grander, bigger, better story! But I am resisting the urge, fiercely!

As I promised, I’ve created a new blog just for NaNoWriMo. Click on the link and subscribe to that list. Once you’ve subscribed, you’ll automatically receive all updates, good, bad and ugly.

Now remember, this is a work in progress, a speed-a-thon, if you will…so don’t expect, pretty, lucid and/or flowing, anytime soon (if at all). What you can expect is passion, joy, sadness, fear, faith, revelation and more.

Comments and critiques are quite welcome, as long as they are not. “This sucks!â€? or “You so crazy!â€? (we’ve already established that fact, I’m working on it…lol).

Your comments/critiques are only helpful if they don’t traumatize me first. So here are a few ground rules.

DO’S:

  • Proffer comment or critique gently, starting with something positive before you get to the negative.
  • Send many encouraging comments, emails and prayers, reminding me that with God all things are possible and that I can do this!
  • Provide your name and email, if you’re not a registered commenter/critiquer, so that I can thank you or “bless you,” depending on your comment…lol.

DON’TS:

  • Please, please, pu-leeze…if you can’t explain why something isn’t working for you, don’t mention it.
  • These posts are for your eyes only, so please do not forward to anyone. Just in case this turns out to be salvageable, to maintain unpublished status, the comment/critique group needs to be small and closed.

That being said, thanks again for your support and happy reading!

Peace,
Dee
